CAS faculty advisors:
We wanted to update you on how virtual advising will work for the remainder of the semester, especially as both summer/fall registration and study abroad preparations are approaching.
The CAS Advising Commons will continue to be available for students to drop-in with general advising questions, utilizing Zoom. The staffing hours will remain the same, meaning someone will be available via Zoom Monday through Friday between 9am and 4pm. The CAS360 home page has a direct link to the new Virtual Advising Commons page, where students can get general information about how the virtual format will work, some quick video tutorials on joining a Zoom meeting, and direct links (based on the current time and day of the week) to connect with an advisor in the Commons immediately (the links will be added shortly).
We’ll send a brief message to CAS students with this information, but it would be helpful if you could contact your advisees as well to make sure they know this is still available even though the physical space won’t be staffed. In addition to stressing that advising support is still available to students, we may also want to remind students of the many other resources available on CAS360 to help them navigate on their own.
The Course Selection Information page on CAS360 is up-to-date and available as always to help students make course choices as registration approaches. Information for students preparing to study abroad is also updated; those students can review everything they need to do for CAS as they prepare.
