Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and Research Coordinator positions-Fort Belvoir, VA

Two immediate openings are available for positions supporting the implementation of a Department of Defense-funded clinical trial (PI: Jennifer Wachen, Ph.D.) examining Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) delivered in a massed 5-day intensive outpatient format with active duty military. The trial will compare CPT delivered over 5 days in a combined group and individual format to CPT delivered individually twice weekly over 6 weeks. The study is currently being conducted remotely via telehealth.

The study is based at Fort Belvoir Community Hospital in Fort Belvoir, VA.  Fort Belvoir is located in Northern Virginia in the metro Washington, DC area.

Research Therapist (full-time or part-time): The therapist will provide group and individual CPT to active duty military populations diagnosed with PTSD and will conduct standardized psychological assessments as needed. Therapists will receive expert training and ongoing supervision on massed and standard CPT from leaders in the field. The therapist will also be trained in the conduct of the Clinician Administered PTSD Scale (CAPS-5).

Qualifications: Master’s or doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, or related field.  Therapists must have a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program and a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice independently.  Preference is for individuals with a background in cognitive-behavioral therapy, cognitive processing therapy, and/or experience in providing manualized psychotherapy.



Research Coordinator (full-time): The coordinator will oversee the implementation of a randomized clinical trial examining massed CPT in an active duty military sample. Duties include participant recruitment; screening and consent of potential participants; coordination of daily study activities; assistance with regulatory activities including IRB submissions, modifications, renewals, and final reports; tracking of study activities through multiple databases; data entry and database management; and assisting with evaluating data and preparing reports.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.  2-4 years of clinical research experience preferred. Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly, and professional demeanor.
