RACISM AND BIAS IN THEATER: A NEW UC FINE ARTS COURSE

This spring the theater program will be offering a special topics course specifically designed to engage the major issues of racism and inequality that are present in American theater.  https://www.weseeyouwat.com/

This course will also serve as a celebration of underrepresented and underappreciated theater by introducing students to a wealth of diverse plays and artists.

The course satisfies the UC Fine Arts requirement and is open to any student at the university, no prior theater experience or affiliation required.

This course will teach critical engagement with the field of theatre through application of social justice theory. Topics will include critical race and gender theory and its application to the American theatre of yesterday and today. This course is ideal for anybody interested in making theatre a more egalitarian and restorative industry. No prerequisites are required.
