On Friday, May 6, 2022, a Celebration of Academic Writing and Research was held in Buckman Theatre. Eighty-five English (EN) 102 students participated in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) sponsored event. Out of the students who participated, four were selected by judges from across the disciplines to receive a research award for their EN 102 section; award winners included Meagan Kogan, Caroline Real, Isabella Nunes, and Jacqueline Doherty. Each winner received an award certificate and a $50 electronic Amazon gift card. Doherty was also selected by judges to receive the “Best of Show” research award; she received an additional award certificate and a $100 electronic Amazon gift card.
Marissa McKinley, the faculty member who directed the 85 student projects for her EN 102 class, would like to thank all students who presented at the celebration and all faculty, students, and staff who attended the celebration. She would also like to thank Sam Edwards, Oveen Joseph, and JT Torres who served as judges for the celebration. Finally, she thanks CAS for their sponsorship.
