Certification Paperwork for State Licensure

During the spring semester, all MAT candidates graduating in 2026 (May or Dec) are required to participate in a series of career development seminars in the Graduate Seminar and Career Development course. For these seminars, we have invited some of our incredibly knowledgeable alumni and partners who will share insights into how candidates can leverage the skills and experiences they have gained in the MAT Program to support their efforts to secure teaching positions. Attendance and participation in all the seminars is mandatory as part of the following courses: ED 555/515/615/617/554. During this seminar, MAT 4+1 candidates in their final semester attend a workshop where they meet with SOE faculty and staff to review their file and ensure they have completed (or are poised to complete) their courses, program, and licensure requirements. Candidates complete the necessary paperwork and get support around requesting transcripts and applying for their licensure in Connecticut and other states to which they wish to apply. This ensures applications can be submitted as soon as possible after graduation.
