Mock Interviews for SPED or Secondary Graduates
During the spring semester, all MAT candidates graduating in 2026 (May or Dec) are required to participate in a series of career development seminars in the Graduate Seminar and Career Development course. For these seminars, we have invited some of our incredibly knowledgeable alumni and partners who will share insights into how candidates can leverage the skills and experiences they have gained in the MAT Program to support their efforts to secure teaching positions. Attendance and participation in all the seminars is mandatory as part of the following courses: ED 555/515/615/617/554. During this seminar, Secondary and Special Education MAT candidates in their graduate year engage in ‘speed dating’ style Mock Interviews. 28 principals, assistant principals, district office representatives from local schools and districts volunteer to engage in 15-minute mock interviews with MAT candidates and provide feedback on their interviewing skills. Each candidate prepares as if they were attending a job fair/series of interviews complete with resumes and participates in at least 3 mock interviews during the event. MAT candidates have been hired based on this event.
