THE NEW PLAY LAB
Quinnipiac students are invited to submit original ten-minute plays for inclusion in our New Play Lab! 6-8 selected plays will receive workshop productions at the Theatre Arts Center each April. Selected playwrights will be assigned a professional mentor who will offer critical feedback on the script and serve as a guide throughout the production process. Additional opportunities for student directors, actors, and stage mangers!

SCRIPT GUIDELINES

10 minutes in length (plays over ten minutes will not be considered)
Plays may be written in any genre. (There is no restriction on setting or theme)
Between 1-5 characters
The script must be intended for the theater (no screenplays or teleplays)
The script must be properly formatted (see the last page of this document)

KEEP IN MIND AS A PLAYWRIGHT:
If you are selected, you will be required to engage in a rigorous development process with
your professional mentor.
You must be available to attend rehearsals, tech, and all performances (see full schedule
below).
There is no expectation of prior experience. All students are encouraged to submit!
If you have a draft (or a piece of a draft) that you want to test out before submitting, bring it to
our informal playwrights group that meets monthly at the Theatre Arts Center. (Email:
Kevin.Daly@qu.edu to learn more).
