Yosemite’s Plant Ecology Program seeks field assistants for the park’s alpine bee inventory project during summer 2023. In collaboration with the USDA Bee Lab we are conducting an inventory and initiating a DNA barcode library of alpine bees in the park.

A project assistant, 1-2 crew leads and 2-4 field assistants will sample bees and plants in remote high elevation habitats throughout Yosemite’s alpine. The work will involve multiple-day backpack trips into remote locations, hiking up to 10 miles per day and carrying up to a 40 lb pack in steep, uneven (spectacular!) terrain. These positions are located in Yosemite National Park, in the Division of Resources Management and Science.

The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period for Yosemite National Park is May to June but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: May-June 2023

Open to the first 250 applicants or until 01/23/2023 whichever comes first. All applications submitted by 11:59 (EST) on the closing day will receive consideration.
