Maryland Environmental Service (MES) has an immediate opening for a full-time Environmental Dredging Technician (EDT) or Senior Environmental Dredging Technician (SEDT) at the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration Project at Poplar Island on the Chesapeake Bay near Tilghman Island, Maryland.
Primary responsibilities: EDT responsibilities include assisting in record keeping of field collected data, generating reports, performing site inspections, operating sampling and/or crew boats and vehicles, assigning daily tasks to staff, and adhering to the project’s regulatory compliance requirements. The SEDT position may be a supervisory position responsible for direct oversight of other employees. Candidates must be adaptable and willing to learn new skills and tasks. Computer literacy is required. Experience with spreadsheets, word processing and database management is preferred. Position may occasionally require evening and weekend work.
Estimated Pay Range:
EDT: $43,909.83 – $53,000
SEDT: $48,301.85 – $66,414.31

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum qualifications for the EDT include graduation from a standard high school or GED plus two years of experience in operations monitoring or environmental inspection. The SEDT minimum qualifications include graduation from a standard high school or GED plus three years of experience in operations monitoring or environmental inspection. Both classifications require a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points and the ability to lift 50 pounds.
Applicants may substitute additional education from an accredited junior college or university for required experience at the rate of 30 undergraduate credit hours for each year of required experience. A successful candidate must also be able to obtain and carry a DOT physical card while employed at MES.
