Truman Scholarship Applications due: February 1, 2023

Eligible to apply: undergraduate juniors who are U.S. citizens or a U. S. national from American Samoa.

Description: Supports graduate study in the United States for those pursuing careers as public service leaders. The Foundation defines public service as employment in government at any level, uniformed services, public-interest organizations, nongovernmental research and/or educational organizations, public and private schools, and public service-oriented nonprofit organizations.

Competitive candidates: are in the upper quarter of his or her class; has an extensive record of public and community service; has outstanding leadership potential and communication skills; and is committed to a career in government or elsewhere in public service.

Schwarzmann Scholarship
Applications due: September 2023 (for August 2024 admission)

Eligible to apply: Rising seniors and recent alumni under the age of 29

Description: A fully-funded, one-year master’s degree and leadership program in global affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. Designed for future leaders who will deepen understanding between China and the rest of the world.

To be competitive: Leadership is the focus of the selection process, and all parts of the application should reinforce the candidate’s profile as a young leader in her/his field and culture. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated agility and superior performance in their academic studies, and the most competitive candidates will be among the top students in their graduating class.

Marshall Scholarship Applications due: September 10, 2023

Eligible to apply: Seniors and recent alumni (‘19 and later) who are U.S. citizens with a GPA of 3.70 or higher

Description: Supports one or two years of study for a graduate degree in the United Kingdom. Designed for future leaders who will deepen understanding between the U.S. and the U.K.

Competitive candidates: have the potential to excel as scholars, as leaders and as contributors to improved UK-US understanding. Assessment will be based on academic merit, leadership potential and ambassadorial potential.

Rhodes Scholarship Applications due: October 5th, 2023

Eligible to apply: Undergraduate class of ’22 or ’23 with a GPA of 3.70 or higher

Description: The Rhodes Scholarship is the oldest (established 1903) international scholarship program in the world, and one of the most prestigious. Administered by the Rhodes Trust in Oxford, it offers 100 fully-funded Scholarships each year for graduate study at the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom. Rhodes Scholarships are for young leaders of outstanding intellect and character who are motivated to engage with global challenges, committed to the service of others and show promise of becoming value-driven, principled leaders for the world’s future.

Competitive candidates demonstrate: academic excellence; energy to use your talents to the full; courage, devotion to duty, protection of the weak, kindliness, unselfishness and fellowship; moral force of character and instincts to lead, and to take an interest in your fellow human beings.

P.D. Soros Fellowship for New Americans Applications due: Application opens April 2023

Eligible to apply: a New American who is under 30 as of the application deadline, and who is starting or continuing a graduate degree program full time in the U.S. in the 2023-2024 academic year.

Description: Supports one to two years of graduate study in any field and in any advanced degree- granting program in the United States.

Competitive candidates: have demonstrated creativity, originality and initiative; have demonstrated a commitment to and capacity for accomplishment that has required drive and sustained effort; have demonstrated a commitment to the values expressed in the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights; give promise of continued significant contributions; choose graduate training is relevant to their long-term career goals and of potential value in enhancing their future creativity and accomplishments.

Fulbright Program
Applications Due: Applications open April – October 2023

Eligible to apply: Must be a U.S citizen at the time of application. Applicants must have a conferred bachelor’s degree or equivalent before the start of the grant.

Description: The Fulbright U.S. Student Program provides grants for individually designed study/research projects or for English Teaching Assistant Programs. A candidate will submit a Statement of Grant Purpose defining activities to take place during one academic year in a participating country outside the U.S.

Competitive Candidates demonstrate: (for research projects) A high-quality and feasible research project, strong academic or professional record, adequate language preparation. Preference factors are established by the Fulbright foreign scholarship board (FFSB) and the Fulbright Commissions/Foundations.
