Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Scientist/Urban Planner Intern to be based in Chelmsford, MA.
This position is designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic area and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.
This position is expected to begin in May 2023.
Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning
Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Data collection and analysis
- Report writing
- Permit application preparation
- Climate adaptation and resilience assessments
- Field work (such as characterization of existing conditions, land use, or habitat assessment)
- GIS analysis/mapping
- Prepare calculations and develop drawings and visual aids
- Coordination with project team members to deliver quality products to clients on schedule
- Perform assignments requiring the application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Assignments are designed to further develop judgment and understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
- Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Water Resources Management, Urban Planning, or related field
- Must have completed 3 years of study in the applicable program
Preferred Qualifications:
- A GPA of 3.0 of higher
- Ability to work productively in a collaborative team environment, and demonstrate growth potential as well as a desire to learn
- A strong sense of commitment, a willingness to learn, and a desire to work in a dynamic deadline driven environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
- Detail oriented while still able to understand/comply with the big picture/goals of a project
- Ability to multi-task
- Strong logic skills and writing skills
- Good communication skills
- Documents time and effort accurately
