located on the shores of Lake Wenatchee in Wenatchee National Forest, Camp Zanika Lache is about 30 minutes from Leavenworth, WA, a small Bavarian tourist town. Zanika Lache is a traditional camp offering five main program areas including Archery, Tripping (Hiking -Backpacking), Ropes Course, Waterfront, and Arts & Crafts. We strive to create safe and inclusive environments that celebrate diversity and foster positive relationships.
Reporting to the Assistant Camp Director of Programs, the Trip and Travel Director is responsible for planning, directing and supervising the camp’s tripping program.
Pay is $450 per week, includes meals and housing. FLSA Section 13(a)(3)
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Training and experience in tripping activities.
- Basic knowledge of backpacking, Leave No Trace, and ability to teach skills to staff and campers of all ages.
- Current CPR and first aid certifications and Wilderness First Aid certification.
- Desire and ability to work with children outdoors.
- Knowledge of the North Central Washington back country (preferred)
- Current Driver’s License and good driving record.
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set up backpacking and equipment area during staff training.
- Teach and monitor proper use of equipment.
- Conduct initial and end-of-season inventory, and store equipment for safety.
- Check equipment and make arrangements for necessary repairs as needed.
- Help plan trips based on camper’s skills, ability, and interest.
- Teach campers and staff Minimum Impact Camping and Zanika Lache’s Operating Procedures for all day and overnight trips.
- Assist in packing all equipment and supplies at end of season.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings.
- Promptly complete camp evaluations.
