The Hotel Engineer is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s building, grounds, equipment, and mechanical systems to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and team members. This position is also responsible for providing shift coverage as needed and responding promptly to maintenance and operational issues throughout the property.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance coverage for assigned shifts and ensure timely completion of work orders.
- Maintain, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair hotel equipment and building systems.
- Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and life safety systems.
- Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests and facility issues.
- Diagnose and repair problems involving electricity, plumbing, HVAC, lighting, appliances, and other hotel equipment.
- Complete general maintenance tasks including painting, carpentry, drywall repair, and minor renovations.
- Monitor building systems to ensure proper functionality and efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, preventative maintenance, and equipment inspections.
- Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and applicable building codes.
- Assist with emergency response situations and after-hours maintenance needs as required.
- Work closely with hotel management and other departments to support daily operations and guest satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years of hotel engineering or hotel maintenance experience required.
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and implement effective solutions.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
